We are back for part 2 of our ChatGPT for Designers series where we share prompts that are going to make your life as a business owner so much easier.
These prompts have been created for our industry in mind – especially for designers and creative service providers in business.
If you missed part 1, click here to read/listen for all our prompts for brand strategy and creative process. And especially important, follow the introductory steps to set up your custom instructions so that ChatGPT knows exactly who you are.
Custom instructions act as sticky context, so that every chat will include important context that will help ChatGPT understand you and provide more relevant responses. This includes things like your business goals, your target audience and how you help them.
There are a lot of aspects to running a design business that feel like a brain strain – these are the things we tend to put off to another day because the fiddly light-weight tasks feel easier. But we can get support and not feel quite like we are flying solo with the help of our brainstorming buddy – ChatGPT.
In this part 2, we are focusing on ChatGPT prompts for:

Let’s kick things off by exploring prompts tailored to elevate your content game. Some of these prompts have endless application and will spark ideas for more and more prompts you can use on the daily.
✴ Write like me. This is my writing style: [insert a good example]. Using my style of writing, write an email for [insert your target audience] who are struggling with [insert problem] and put the call to action of [insert call to action]. Maximum 1000 words.
✴ Using my style of writing, could you please write an email targeting the healthcare industry on how graphic design gets results. Include a call to action of [insert].
If you’re writing for on behalf of clients, you can experiment with the voice of other brands and personalities, for example:
✴ Using a tone of voice similar to [insert well known personality, historical figure, fictional character, celebrity etc ) could you please write a social media post targeting the healthcare industry to educate [insert audience] on the importance of [topic].
✴ I love the brand voice of [insert name of company you find aspirational and in alignment]. Could you please use a similar brand voice to write a maximum of 200 words on why businesses in the [insert industry] should [take a specific action, e.g work with a graphic designer].
✴ I love [insert company name]’s brand voice. Could you please write 100 words in that style about [enter topic, .e.g why businesses need to consider much more than their logo when it comes to branding].
✴ Create an Instagram carousel post that not only captures attention but leaves my ideal follower eager to hit the save button and share with others. My ideal follower is [insert] who is struggling with [insert]. I want the post to start with a strong, attention-grabbing hook as the title on the first slide. Following that, each page should feature a header and a paragraph. The last page should end with a call to action to [insert call to action].
✴ Create a catchy instagram reel headline with the keywords [insert]
✴ Can you identify any sections we could pull from the text below that I could use for engaging social media posts? Ideas please [insert notes or your blog post]
✴ Summarise this blog post into a post suitable for LinkedIn.
✴ Summarise this blog post into an email with a list. Include the call to action [insert]
✴ Create 5 high converting Pinterest content ideas based on topics and themes in this blog post
✴ Create 5 compelling analogies about my business that can be used in marketing communication
✴ Write me a thought provoking viral tweet that makes people stop and think when reading
✴ Based on this blog post, finish the sentence: “If you want to [insert action], you need to…”`
✴ Can you provide 5 ideas for a series of blog posts about the importance of branding for [insert your desired audience]
✴ ChatGPT, simplify design jargon for me. How do I explain our creative process to clients without overwhelming them?
Next up we have prompts to help you attract your ideal audience and get new clients in the door. This is all about laid-back brainstorming and we are here for it.
Don’t forget, for these prompts to produce relevant results for your business you need to have your custom instructions in place first. 🤗
✴ Brainstorm quiz ideas that I could use for lead generation that address the problem of [insert topic] for [insert audience]
✴ Help me brainstorm helpful free lead magnets that my ideal clients can sign up for in exchange for their email address. The aim would be to then nurture them via email and for them to eventually convert to paying clients.
✴ Tell me a compelling and interesting analogy or metaphor that illustrates the [insert topic, e.g. the importance of consistency with branding].
✴ Write 20 [insert adjective] ad hooks for advertising content about my business.
✴ Write a comprehensive list of all the pain points that could be solved by my business
✴ What is the key to creating social media graphics that stop the scroll? What dimensions and elements catch the eye?
✴ How can I effectively communicate the value of my design services and make my ideal clients say ‘yes.’ My ideal clients are [insert].
✴ Please tweak the following copy so that is [insert – e.g. well written / more punchy]. I’m only looking for minor edits please. [Insert copy]
Time is possibly our most precious commodity and in order to live balanced and fulfilled lives, we need to maximise our time! Here we look at how ChatGPT can become your productivity buddy and explore prompts help you navigate through tasks more efficiently.
✴ Please summarise the key points of the following youtube video [insert link] – maximum 500 words.
✴ Please summarise this blog post [insert link] into a bullet point list.
If you like these two prompts above, you might also like the ‘ChatGPT Summary for Chrome’ google extension. It can summarise long articles and youtube videos in one click. You can adjust the settings within the extension so it summarises the video in a way that you like best – i.e. bullet point list or paragraphs.
This next prompt is to help you with your systems and procedures. People learn and consume information in different ways, so if you have screen recorded a procedure (we highly encourage you to do this for ALL your business operations), you can then create a written version with the help of ChatGPT.
✴ Please summarise the key points of this instructional video for our SOP’s.
✴ ChatGPT, what is the most efficient way to do [insert task] in my design business?
✴ ChatGPT I am spending a lot of time on [insert task]. This is my current process [insert description of process]. Is this the most efficient way to do this? Please help me brainstorm a better way.
Ever considered mapping out your business’s future with ChatGPT? This has HUGE potential and we encourage you to go deep with this to explore untapped opportunities for growth.
✴ What are the main pain points [insert business type] owner’s face when it comes to working with a [insert your service, e.g graphic designer / packaging designer / copywriter / web designer]?
✴ Using the survey data linked in the google sheet below, what are the most common themes that people are worried about? [insert survey data or link to your spreadsheet] *
*Note: Be mindful not to share personal data if you have any in your survey responses, like email addresses and contact details.
✴ From the survey responses, are there any words or phrases people are using on repeat?
✴ Can you come up with ideas for 5 helpful emails based on the survey responses? With the aim of getting them to {call to action].
